announcement: After reviewing applications and an interviewing process, We have selected 16 first responders as scholarship recipients from applicants that represented over 50 agencies across the US and canada. Congratulations on the scholarship recipients!


Dear First Responder family,

It is part of the heart of our mission to provide highly impactful and transformative trainings for first responders. In this initiative, “Restoring the Rescuer” we focus on providing restorative wellness retreats: an opportunity for first responders to have a mental and physical reset from the trauma, stress and challenges that are faced in every day life (on and off shift). With deep gratitude and excitement, we are thrilled to announce that, in partnership with Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, we are offering a group of first responders scholarships to attend a 6 day - 5 night transformative wellness retreat with us and our team of exceptional health and wellness professionals.

Retreat programming:

The programming will be focused on rest and recovery. The schedule will include lectures on sleep, first responder mental health and optimal nutrition for hormone health with shift work by experts.  Guided activities will include daily yoga, meditation, sleep recovery practices,  group activities in nature such as hiking, paddle boarding etc.

This retreat will include:

  • Presentations and workshops by the co-founders of the First Responder Sleep Recovery Program: Jacqueline & Sean Toomey (on “bottom up” trauma healing, Sleep Recovery, the Vagus Nerve) , Dr. Alisa Koval of the Denver Fire Department (on the gut microbiome: the mind-body connection), Lenora Savana Integrative Health Practitioner (on hormone health with shift work), Brian Berkel, former LEO with Horseworks and Suicide Prevention (group support for the excursions), and Hayley Sumner, founder of the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy center, Berkshire Horseworks (equine therapy team building excursion).

  • 6 days - 5 nights lodging

  • 3 healthy, organic meals freshly prepared daily

  • Access to daily yoga, dance and sound healing experiences on site at Kripalu

  • Access to the grounds and amenities: hiking trails, lake, labyrinth and sauna

  • What's Not Included: Transportation / Airfare/ Rental car to and from the event center is not included. The cost to rent a paddleboard / canoe / water sport is not included.
